PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim today said he had been informed he would be formally charged with sodomy tomorrow - a crime punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment.

"They are charging me tomorrow. It's for sodomy," Anwar told AFP, adding that the authorities had informed him of the move in a letter.

Anwar, a former deputy premier who was jailed a decade ago on sodomy charges that were later overturned, faces new allegations by a 23-year-old aide, Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Anwar has rejected the accusations which he says have been fabricated to prevent him from toppling the government, after landmark March elections that handed the opposition an unprecedented one-third of parliamentary seats.

He announced last week he would contest a by-election for a seat vacated by his wife and earlier today the Election Commission announced the vote would be held on Aug 26.

The commission's chairperson Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman said parties must nominate their candidates on Aug 16.

"During the by-election, it is important for all parties to follow the orders given by the security authorities and ensure peace and stability," he told reporters.

Polling day on Tuesday

Anwar, the figurehead of PKR which heads the three-member opposition alliance, has said he is bracing for "massive" vote-rigging by the government to block him from winning the key ballot.

PKR information chief Tian Chua condemned the authorities' decision to hold the vote on a Tuesday, instead of on the weekend which is usual practice.

"I think the reason they are having it on a weekday is to reduce the turnout," he said.

"This is a deliberate action to inconvenience the voters. We condemn the Election Commission for their decision."

"We fear there could be rigging. We urge our supporters not to be complacent, it is going to be a tough battle but we are confident of victory," he said.

Earlier today, the police visited Anwar at his home in Bukit Segambut, Kuala Lumpur at 12.10pm and is learnt to have served him with a notice to appear in court tomorrow.

The police team was led by ASP Jude Pereira, who refused to speak to the waiting horde of reporters as he left Anwar's house.

Visit by police

The police visited the home of PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim in Bukit Segambut, Kuala Lumpur at 12.10pm today and it is learnt that they have served him with a notice to appear in court tomorrow.

The notice requires Anwar to be present at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court at 10am tomorrow.

Anwar meanwhile has called for a press conference at the PKR headquarters at 3pm today.

At present he is believed to be having a meeting with his lawyers and party leaders.

The sodomy charge preferred against Anwar is not expected to have a bearing in the by-election as only convicted persons are barred from contesting or forced to step down from being an elected representative.

Musa Aman Really Aman

Yesterday in Sandakan, Sabah Chief UMNO Musa Aman admitted that he dares not to contest the Umno vice president’s post in the December party election.

However to play it safe, he will defend his position as a member of the Supreme Council with technically useless.

The decision was made after long consideration and consultations with Pak lah over sum of money pay for his loyalty.

By doing this, he will be weakening UMNO hold on Sabah as Sabahan still view UMNO isn’t considering Sabah as part of Malaysia.

We need a fighter for Sabah not a Yes-man!

Sabah risked being trapped among a group of failed nations if the Government insists on continuing to lick UMNO toes instead of making changes to expand its economic growth horizon.

This is the perfect time for Sabah to make a mark in UMNO! With such a strong support from its grass root Musa shall proceed without fear!

Foreign players can pack their underwear and go.

The FA of Malaysia (FAM) Council decided that Malaysian are never able to compete against the best of World Football so they are forcing all foreign players in the Malaysian Super League (MSL) to go from next season onwards.

FAM deputy president Khairy Jamaluddin admitted that the MSL had failed to meet its objectives since its launch in 2004 and blame those foreign players for failing to contribute positively to the growth of Malaysian football. This is blaming *his inability shits on the hard floor!*

He also said that most of the foreign players were not of high standard and failed to draw in the crowds. I don’t understand how the hell did he graduate from Oxford? If Malaysian want to see quality foreign players, they would rather watch Europe league. I who watch local league want to see how my local mates are doing!

FAM shut out foreign players from 1999 to 2001 because the foreign players then were of very high standard and had put the local players in the shade. I was playing as a reserve for Sabah then and the coach instruction is to pass to the foreign players and let them do the stuff!

Now… the story different pulak!

KJ should have admitted that the main reasons for doing without foreign players are the poor financial management of State Football Association. As an ex-state player, I know how this State Management guys run the association, they run it like a government department with that *tak ape* attitude! Always expecting extra *BONUS* from the state government, don’t our tax money got better use than feeding those half past six so called pro players?

Malaysia Football name is very *busuk* not only because of corruption cases but also non-payment of salaries to foreign players. Some ten years ago, a Terrengganu Foreign player commits suicide after failing to receive payment from his employee! That’s the highlight of Malaysia football aside from the corruption scandal!

KJ even stated Anti Corruption Agency believed that AFRICAN PLAYERS are involved in match fixing! Bloody racist… Why should he only mention *AFRICAN* instead of Foreign!

It is not uncommon for foreign players to be released after just two or three matches or be kept on the sidelines for an entire season.

The last case of unprofessional conduct involved Ivan Ziga, a Slovakian player who plays for Sarawak FA. Ivan Ziga claims his contract was terminated nine-months early without any explanation. He also claimed he was not paid. He took his plight to the Football Association of Malaysia but received no reply until Ivan Ziga threatened to take the case to FIFA.

Ivan Ziga's case is not uncommon in Malaysia, with most other cases involving African players who are either not paid or left stranded when their contracts are terminated early without any proper explanation given by teams.

Mont Kiara tragedy: Remorseful boyfriend apologises

"I AM sorry." These were the remorseful words of the man at the centre of the controversial and tragic death of 21-year-old college student Jacqueline Beatrice Foo following her ill-fated attempt last week to climb down nine floors from her family's apartment using only a raffea string.

Jack Ho, 34, her boyfriend, had been accused by Jacqueline's family of "playing a major role" in her death. The lovers had been seeing each other for around six months.

Speaking to Malay Mail yesterday, Ho said his days were filled with regret every time he recalled the incident.

Jack HoHe said he was "shocked" when he read about the claims by Foo's family that he was an "Internet predator" who had befriended more than 25 young girls via social networking website Friendster and chatted up young girls with different e-mails.

"I have never dated anyone else in my Friendster account with the exception of my late girlfriend," said Ho, adding that in his whole life he had had fewer than 10 girlfriends.

Ho, a widower with two young children, is currently jobless but looking for employment. The Klang resident admitted that he was sacked from his job as a sales marketer with an import export company about the time the tragedy made the news. Yesterday, he met Jacqueline's parents for the first time at the Brickfields police station. In the past, Ho would only meet Jacqueline in secret.

He said he "made some clarification with the parents" and that the situation was more amicable now after they knew more about him.

"I began to understand some things about them," he said, explaining that he was unaware of how adamant they were about her "aborting" his baby, which he believed Jacqueline was having, and for her to stay away from him.

"She never told me. She always gave me a different impression of her parents," he said, adding that at the meeting, the parents had scolded him for being "stupid" and they also "blamed their daughter for not allowing me to introduce myself to them". When asked why he had persuaded her to use a raffea string to climb down the building, he replied "I really did not know" and "she told me it was safe". He admitted to frequently regretting the episode.

Ho also denied Jacqueline's parents' earlier claims that he had mounting debs with loan sharks and that he "only picked on girls from wealthy families". Meanwhile, a close friend of Ho, Alvy Lee, defended him and said he was certain that Ho was not a "predator".

He said that Ho had briefly considered lodging a report on defamation of character, but had decided to let the matter go.

Lee said he was the one who had introduced Ho to Jacqueline.

"Jack and I were having dinner and I was talking to Jacqueline on the phone at the time. She asked if she could say hello to Jack. I passed the phone to Jack and they talked for about five minutes; and that was when they started communicating," he said.

Jacqueline's father, Jimmy Sioe Hok, said that he considered the case over and done with and "there is no use talking about it anymore." "The guy is already sorry. He told us that he felt sorry for what he had done," he said, adding that the maid, whom the family had questioned on her alleged role in planning their daughter's escape, was "okay now", and that she was to be brought back home.

In earlier reports, questions had been raised on what prompted Jacqualine's ill-fated attempt. It was alleged that she had done so after her parents had threatened to ship her off to Indonesia if she persisted in seeing Ho. It was alleged that the family, who were in the process of converting their Australian permanent resident status to Malaysian PR, had threatened to withdraw her application. It was also reported that, after Jacqueline had run away from home a few times, her parents were forced to lock her in the bedroom to prevent a repeat incident. However, on July 16, she nevertheless attempted to escape by scaling down the wall with a raffea string but lost her footing and fell.

It was alleged that, on the night of her death, Ho was waiting for her near the apartment in his car. However, when she failed to show up, he left, assuming that she had changed her mind about escaping.

It's a sad ending for Jac's life, nobody will ever know if its true love or just .....

May her soul rest in peace!

Any parents would have stop their 21-years-old daugther from having a relationship with a 34-years-old jobless widower with 2 kids!

Jalan Bundusan!!!

Just came back from Beijing and going to stay in KK for two weeks to finish my work here, the ongoing upgrading works at Jalan Bundusan really annoys me, not sure what are the contractor and our Minister with no balls Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah doing?

Tan should seriously look into the matter and to expedite the completion of the project instead of shoe licking UMNO. Since I started to rent an apartment in Bundusan Villa three months ago, the project has been there and there is no sign of ending.

He should not just sit in his office but to come here and see for himself the great inconvenience and ordeal of the people that has been created by the project, the terrible dust problem especially.

As a Minister, he should not just pay attention to problems affecting his constituents but also others. If he can’t do this, then he should perhaps step down and let me take over his job.

Slow progress of the said project which had been causing me a great inconvenience besides posing a health hazard due to the dust problem.

How long more the people have to ‘eat dust’ and endure the great stress while traveling along this road?”

Yesterday there was no work being carried out, I though it suppose to be an urgent work. Crazy ah?

if the relevant authorities were really concerned about the people’s interest and well-being ,they could have always instruct the contractor involved to expedite the project by working around the clock, seven days a week including Public Holidays.

The traffic flow was less on Sundays and Public Holidays as compared to the week days and were thus more conducive for the construction works.

The people deserve a better service after all the money spent on the project is their money. They should not be made to suffer for giving the contractor a lucrative job. This is also the kind of problem that causes the people to lose confidence in the Government.
