The newspapers are still full of “the credit crunch” and how it all happened!!! Simple really, too much credit to the wrong people. But then bottom line paper profit margins on the books were all the banking hierarchy were interested in so they could claim their extortionate salaries, bonuses and pensions. And now its all gone wrong and the banking system and the world economy has gone west, what do these same bankers do they come cap in hand to the government or their shareholders for handouts to bail them out of the mess they created.
Governments were panicked into action to give these incompetent custodians of our money and bailed them out with billions of public money ie. Our money again. But what do these bankers do with this manna from heaven, yes you guessed it, patted themselves on the back and awarded themselves bonuses for being found wanting when it most mattered.
If I remember correctly Nick Leeson went to jail for bringing down Barings some years ago. My question is why aren’t the current crop of no hopers suffering the same fate, why aren’t they being asked to repay their unmerited rewards and put there hands in their own pockets to repay these losses.
If it wasn’t so serious it would be ironic.
