June 4, 2011

Good-bye May.
Hi June!

Wow summertime already.
i love it.
My updated "goal" list will be short and sweet this month.

1. I heart kickboxing. I love it a lot. I have never felt so good after a workout!!!
2. The Wedding Girl=perfect. I loved it. Go read it now.
3. Peyton is behaving so perfectly :) I think him getting injured has slowed him down a bit...
4. Gratitude Journal=major fail. I cannot seem to a.) remember to write in it b.)want to write in it. ugh i feel terrible about it.
5. 5k=July
6. I just love my girlfriends to death. I love having our monthly girl nights :) What is better than girlfriends?

ok, my question is...
What book should I read this month??

May 1st, 2011

May already?

Goodness, where does the time go?

Anyway...April was a sucky month for my "goals" (and weather).

1. Sadly, I didn't write in my gratitude journal each night.  I felt like it was becoming a chore and that is exactly what I didn't want to happen.  I feel awful about it.  Not good at all. I plan on starting up again tonight.

2. Working out is going great.  I continue to work out on my days off.  I love it. I love kickboxing so much! What a great energy booster! It's so much fun too! I actually look forward to working out and that is the first time in my life you will hear me say that! :)

3. 5k-in July.  I wouldn't say I have been training, but I have been walking/running if it is nice out.

4. Peyton has been so much better with his jumping since he hurt his back. Unfortunately, the only reason he is acting so great is because he is in pain :(

5. I did not read a book this month.  I have started one.  Didn't quite make it through. Boooo. UPDATE: I read a book in 12 hrs. It was great!! Carrot Cake Murder by JoAnn Fluke! Go check out her books, they are quick reads!! :)

6. This past month I have spent a significant amount of time with David's niece and nephew! They are at that age where they are so fun (10 and 12)! They get my jokes, they can play games, and they both have such fun personalities!  It's always such a great time :)

April 1, 2011

Is it April already?  Where has this year gone?!

1. Gratitude Journal is still going strong...I religiously write down 5 things EVERY SINGLE NIGHT that I am grateful/glad about that happened that day.  I love this time every night.  It makes me really enjoy the small things in life.

2. OK, Peyton is not a misbehaved dog what-so-ever so instead of "training him to behave better" we have narrowed down our "problem areas".  Jumping up on people.  Since his "injury" we have been extra conscious of his jumping.  He has actually done amazing! I'm so proud!!

3. 3 books down of 12!! Whoooo-hoo.  I love to read but like most people I don't have a lot of time to read.  I just read a book that had to do with the 1996 TWA flight that blew up and the conspiracy behind it.  It was great!  It is called Night Fall and it is by Nelson DeMille.

4. I'm still exercising on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's.  I love it.  I love how I feel after.  I have lots of energy.  However...on Saturday morning my Boot Camp class is being switched to kickboxing!  I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!  I cannot wait to try this.  I have heard lots of good things about it...Have any of you taken a kick boxing class?  How was it?

5. No 5K yet...but I will be running my first one on July 6th!  I'm excited!

6.  I have been spending a lot of time with my sister and David's sister, Theresa.  I love being close to family.  They are the only reliable people you can count on in your life.  I don't know what I would do if I had family issues.  I thank the Lord everyday that I have such a supportive, wonderful, loving family...on both sides!!! I am so lucky :)

March 2, 2011

I didn't want to take away from the Birthday Boy on his birthday, so my New Year Goal update is a day late :)

  • I have been faithfully keeping up with my Gratitude Journal.  It isn't a "chore" and it has become my favorite part of my day.  I enjoy reviewing my day while writing down just how grateful I am about the small things in life.  I love that David continues to tell me things he is grateful for.  This has actually brought us closer :)
  • On the workout end of things I am still going to body sculpt and boot camp, however, I have added another class (body sculpt) on Friday afternoons!  I love my instructor Katie and I love attending class.  I never feel like I HAVE to go.  I always want to be there!
  • I have finished one book (and not the one I orginially started, The Five Love Languages) I read Where Are You Now by Mary Higgins Clark (I think I have read EVERY single one of her books).  I started it on Friday and finished in on Saturday.  It was great.  I love mysterys.  I have started reading N is for Noose by Sue Grafton.  So far it is addicting!!
  • Training Peyton=bust.  I haven't even tried to make him better.  He is just so darn sweet and I give in way too much.  I hope that this spring/summer I will have a little more motivation to complete this goal.
  • Bettering my relationship with those around me is easy.  I have decided that every time I think of someone I will text them and let them know.  I have been sending more random texts throughout the day.  I want those around me to know that I am thinking about them and that they are important to me.  I know when I get those random calls or texts it makes me feel so great!
  • I have yet to run a 5K.  Enough said.  It is too cold for me to be outside.  I'm thinking by the time fall comes around I will be able to fulfill this goal.

February 1, 2011

It is one month into the New Year and I thought It was time to do a progress report regarding my New Year Goals.

1. My gratitude journal is filling up.  Some days are very hard to come up with 5 things I am greatful for, other days it is very easy.  I love looking back and reading some of the things I was greatful for on certain days.  It makes me appreciate the small things in life when I do this.  David has also continued to do this also.  (Although not in journal form-just telling me)  I love hearing about what makes him greatful.  It is nice to know that he is "looking" for the good things that happen through out the day.

2.  I have been going to Body Sculpt and Boot Camp.  I do these on Thursdays (Body Sculpt) and Saturdays (Boot Camp).  On Fridays Theresa and I work out at J and RE's.  I love my classes so much.  I have been doing them since September and I have noticed changes.  I have gotten stronger and more toned.  I am so glad I can do these.  It makes me have more energy and not feel so dull on these looooong winter days.

3. I am still in the process of reading The Five Love Languages.  I'll update more after I am finished reading.  So far it is OK.

Hope everyone is sticking with their goals!!  So far I can say I am doing well!!

New Year Goals

I like to think of my resolutions as goals.  I just think it sounds nicer.  OK so I have compiled a list of 6 goals I would like to achieve in 2011.  None of them are over the top or unachievable so I expect to be able to fulfil these.

1. Keep a gratitude journal: I read about this on someones blog and I thought it was a great idea.  Every single day you write down 5 things you are greatful for.  5 simple things that made your day or made your life easier or just made you smile.  For instance, you got 10 cents off your gas per gallon at kroger, or you went to lunch with a friend.  I have done this every day since January 1st and I am so glad I'm doing this.  David has even joined in! (although he doesn't write his down, we do chat about it!)

2. Run a 5K: Now some of you might think this is lame, but I don't run, in fact I hate running.  I want to like it, I just don't.  Theresa (David's sister) and I have been working out alot since last summer.  We started running a little bit so I do believe a 5K is achievable.

3. Better my relationships with the people around me: Pretty self explanitory.  My main goal here is to have more sleepovers with my sister, spend more time with friends, be a better support system for my loved ones, etc.

4. Training Peyton to behave better: Although Peyton is my world, I have to admit he isn't the best trained dog on the block (unless you count sitting for food).  Peyton loves to bark when someone knocks on the door, he loves to bark at the TV (most annoying), and he loves to jump up on people.  I really want to work on the jumping part first.  I love taking him places but hate that he jumps.  This will probably be my hardest goal to achieve.

5. Healthy Lifestyle: I admit I give into my cravings ALL. THE. TIME. It's bad.  It's horrible.  I plan on using a really cool website I was introduced to by Theresa (David's sister).  It is called My Fitness Pal and it is AMAZING.  You can log and track everything you eat and all the exercise you do.  It keeps you accountable for everything.  Also, you can "friend" people which helps support you and keep you in line.  I have been using it on and off since the summer, but I am determined to stick to it.

6. Read 12 Books: I have a list of books (all different kinds from fiction to non-fiction, relgious to self help)  I plan on reading 1 book per month.  I also plan to blog about each book after I am done reading.  I am starting out with The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman.  I have heard nothing but good things about this book and I can't wait to start!

Like I said all of these are totally do-able.  I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on my progress!!
