Do you enjoy listening to bird songs and calls? Birding by ear (listening to, and identifying birds by their songs and calls) is a great way to locate birds, and often the easiest way to identify birds. And bird song identification adds to our overall enjoyment of birding.

It's delightful waking up to bird songs in the early morning and knowing what they are -- perhaps robins and cardinals. It's satisfying to recognize the enchanting breezy, down-ward spiraling song of the veery out in the woods, and it's enjoyable knowing that the friendly chirping outside the window on a cold, sunny winter day is from house sparrows congregating together.

It's also exciting to hear unfamiliar bird songs. You may not always be able to identify the bird visually, but you may be able to figure it out from listening to Birding by Ear CDs or to recorded bird calls on birding websites.

yay fall...

i am one of those crazies who thinks Christmas should be celebrated year round, and i begin my Christmas season in september.

so,
this year for christmas, i really really really want a nook...or a kindle.

however,
i have no clue which one to get.

so i need your advice.

update on dad:

dad will have surgery, and then a few rounds of radiation therapy.

we are so very thankful that the doctors found this early and he has a low chance of this ever reoccuring!!

i cannot tell you how happy i am!!!

obsessively over the top in love with my dog.
seriously.
i worry about myself sometimes...
yes, it is that bad.
i mean...i hold on my hip like a child.
and talk to him like he will actually respond to me.
strange? maybe...but, because of you blog ladies
i have realized this isn't as odd as i once thought.

very particular, which comes across as bossy.
or maybe bitchy. whatev.
that is me. and i have always been that way.
i like to think of it as i know what i want.
you know those people that are all like
"i don't care" "doesn't matter to me"
that is not me. if you ask me where i want to eat,
i will most likely chose olive garden  tell you.

a creature of habit.
i am one of those gals who thrives off a schedule.
to the exact second.
i hop out of bed the second my alarm goes off.
i also make sure i am tucked into bed no later than 10pm on the days i work.
routines are my fav.
which makes me a hot mess when i fall off of it.
which then leads to bitching.
so you see, it is a downward spiral if i get off of my routine.
lame? yes. on time? always.

in love with pasta.
specifically garden rotini.
it is always stocked in my pantry.
david always says my last meal would be pasta.
which worries me that he has thought that...but that is for another post.
i could and would eat it every day if it were acceptable.

i am loving my new water bottle.  it has a filter in it. therefore, i can fill it up with the nasty hospital water and it tastes wonderful!!! best invention ever...well 2nd best...after this invention of course.

i am loving sweet baby ray's bbq sauce. like a lot. we made bbq chicken wraps last night with it. and it was delicious and amazing!!

i am loving that wednesday's are my friday's. and my weekend starts at exactly 7pm tonight!!

why is that dogs can make all your stresses go away and make you feel so much better? i am so grateful for my sweet peyton :)

oh august. you have officially kicked our ass.
in fact, just when i didn't think you could get any worse. you did.
on sunday i had to hear that one word no one ever wants to hear.
cancer.
my dad has cancer.
luckily they caught it very very very early.
so early in fact, they don't think chemotherapy will be necessary.
just surgery. he will find out for sure on friday.
so if you could please keep my family in your thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated.
my dad is the greatest person in the world. and i know he will get through this.
